Microdipodops megacephalus -
Dorsal (top) view of the skull of Microdipodops megacephalus. The large balloon-shaped structures at the back of the skulll are the auditory bullae—hollow, bony structures that enclose parts of the middle and inner ear. The audiotry bullae are greatly inflated in members of the genus Microdipodops, more so than in any other member of the family Heteromyidae.
