Template:County mammal map
County mammal map
An interactive map of one state's counties comparing their rodents (Rodentia) with their shrews and moles (Eulipotyphla), the county-level companion to {{State mammal map}}. Hover or tap a county to see how many of each are recorded there, the species found in no other county of the state, and its biggest families; click a county to open its page. The buttons above the map switch between Species richness, Shrew & mole share and By species, as on the US map.
The map is drawn by the same state-mammal-map gadget (MediaWiki:Gadget-state-mammal-map.js) from JSON:County_mammal_map/State (for example JSON:County_mammal_map/Arizona), which the compiler rebuilds (script 03h_county_mammal_map.R) from the same species-by-county lists the county pages show. Like those lists, it's presence by county: a species counts in a county if its range reaches any part of it. Without JavaScript, or for a state whose county map hasn't been built yet, readers see a link to the state page instead.
So far only Arizona has a county map; more states are added in 03h_county_mammal_map.R's STATES list.
{{County mammal map|state=Arizona}}
On a state page, state can be left out: it defaults to the page's own title.
