Description
From Pembleton & Williams (1978): "Exemplifying the genus, G. pinetis is a med ium-sized rodent with the typical geomyid adaptations for a fossorial way of life: small eyes; reduced pinnae; stout, strong-clawed forelimbs; nearly naked tail; external, fur-lined cheek pouches; and thickset body."
