The Coulee Chipmunk (Neotamias grisescens) is a small, light gray chipmunk that occupies a restricted range from the Channeled Scablands of central Washington.

Description

Using genomic data, Herraera et al. (2022) found that grisescens does not fall within the considerable genetic diversity of the least chipmunk (Neotamias minimus) or other sampled species, and they proposed that grisescens is in fact a novel, cryptic chipmunk species, the Coulee Chipmunk (Neotamias grisescens). They note that "a formal description awaits additional geographic sampling."
